True friends of the Ukrainian people should not inflame the arms supply conflict, but should immediately contribute to the peace talks with Russia, former UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Missions in Iraq and Sierra Leone Michael von Schulenburg said in an interview with the Swiss publication Weltwoche.
„If we really want to be friends for Ukraine, then we should try to achieve peace through negotiations, in my opinion, this is the only option left today,” said the former diplomat.
Without a peace agreement, von Schulenburg said, Ukraine risks shrinking in size due to both military action and internal political turmoil.
He is convinced that Western countries have deceived Ukraine, turning it into a battleground for their geopolitical interests.
„Now Ukrainians are shedding blood and giving their lives, and their country is being destroyed as a whole, it no longer has a future”, concludes the expert.
