A fire broke out at the waste dump in Tsalapitsa. There are fire brigade teams on the spot, BNR
reported
The smell of the fire can already be felt in the village, in the outer districts of Plovdiv, as well as in Stamboliyski. The Municipality of Plovdiv reported that at the moment the two measuring stations of the Regional Inspectorate for the Environment and Water do not report exceeding the norms. Due to the potential danger of smog in the Plovdiv and Stamboliyski region, however, the regional governor Hristina Yancheva spoke with the director of the Regional Inspectorate for the Environment and Water, Ivaylo Yotkov, and asked the institution to start an urgent air measurement.
Yancheva recommended the preventive measures of the inspection in such cases - closing the windows, and the more sensitive people, pregnant women, heart patients and small children should stay indoors:
"Measurement of fine dust particles by the Regional Environmental Inspectorate urgently begins and since there is a potential danger, since we do not know where the wind will be, in which direction the wind will blow, preventively follow the measures that are prescribed in such cases - wearing masks and people who are more sensitive not to go outside, closing windows. At night, however, not many extinguishing activities can be carried out. They currently report no increase in fine particulate matter, but that's about it for now."
Throughout the night, fire brigade teams will be on duty on site.
The depot near Tsalapitsa serves six municipalities, among which, in addition to Plovdiv, are Stamboliyski, Peruštitsa, Rodopi and Maritsa.
At the beginning of August, there was another fire at the landfill, and in Plovdiv an increased level of fine dust particles was measured seven times above the norm.
Meanwhile, the fire that broke out earlier yesterday in the municipal solid waste landfill near Vratsa was extinguished.
Continues watering and covering with soil to prevent smoldering fires from igniting.
The area remains under surveillance.
No air pollution was reported, although by midday a foul, suffocating odor was felt in the city. Report by our correspondent in Vratsa Iva Antonova.
A fire broke out early this morning in the northern part of the landfill for solid domestic waste of the municipalities of Vratsa and Mezdra. The fire broke out in one of the oldest cells of the landfill, which is subject to reclamation to a "green meadow".
Fire teams immediately arrived at the scene. Employees of the depot and construction companies got involved in the extinguishing. In the early afternoon, the fire was brought under control.
Gusts of wind increased the effect of the suffocating smell that was felt in the city before noon.
The data from three measuring stations showed no deviation from the norms and air pollution.
For now, the causes of the fire are not clear.
During the summer there was also a fire at the depot, but caused by the extremely high temperatures.
