The USA today imposed hundreds of sanctions aimed at Russia in connection with its invasion of Ukraine, including Chinese companies, reported Reuters , quoted by BTA.
The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on nearly two hundred people and organizations, while the US State Department sanctioned about 80 individuals and legal entities, the agency specifies.
American sanctions also affect 20 companies in China and Hong Kong. They come after repeated warnings from Washington regarding military support for Moscow from China.
Reuters recalls that Chinese companies were warned by both US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during their recent visits to China.
"The Treasury Department has repeatedly warned that companies will suffer serious consequences for their material support of the Russian-led war in Ukraine, and the United States today is imposing sanctions on nearly three hundred entities," Yellen said in a statement.
