The Guangzhou Auto Show witnessed not just a premiere, but a real circus act that put the Geely Galaxy V900 minivan directly into the Guinness Book of Records. Chinese manufacturer Geely managed to achieve an unusual feat, demonstrating the impressive internal volume of its new model, by cramming a record number of passengers into it.
On October 27, although only recently announced with the model's launch, the Geely Galaxy V900 cabin accommodated 42 people. This is a new world record for a vehicle that can accommodate the largest number of people, demonstrating how large and flexible the minivan's interior is. Although this achievement seems remarkable, it should be noted that compared to similar, but older records in other segments - such as 41 people in the Toyota Rav4 in 2015. or 50 in a classic Volkswagen Campervan – this is more of an attractive marketing move than a phenomenal engineering victory.
Under its skin, the Geely Galaxy V900 is an evolution of the well-known Geely Galaxy LEVC L380, which was previously offered as an electric model under the umbrella of the LEVC subsidiary. However, the new model has grown up – its dimensions are now 5,360 mm long, 1,998 mm wide and 1,940 mm high, and the wheelbase reaches 3,200 mm. Compared to its electric predecessor, the V900 is 44 mm longer and has received 15 mm more space between the axles, which certainly contributed to the record accommodation.
Technologically, the V900 relies on an intelligent hybrid drive. The system includes a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine that generates 163 horsepower. It is important to note that this engine functions primarily as a generator, whose main task is to recharge the traction battery. This provides the flexibility and efficiency typical of hybrids.
Thanks to this configuration, the minivan can offer an enviable autonomous range on electricity alone, which is especially important for urban conditions. According to the specifications, depending on the specific version and battery capacity, the Geely Galaxy V900 can travel between 172 km, 195 km and even 202 km before the intervention of the gasoline generator is required. This makes it a practical and economical solution for large families or luxury people transport.
