TOP-10 of new cars sold in our country after the introduction of the euro

How the automotive year 2026 began in Bulgaria

The new car market in our country opens the season with surprising dynamics, which suggests that consumer preferences are undergoing some transformation. Traffic police data from the beginning of January reveal a contested battle at the top, where Toyota and Skoda are literally breathing down each other's backs, separated by a negligible difference in registrations. While the Japanese giant holds the leadership with 410 units delivered, the Czech brand strengthens its position as the main contender with an impressive 404 cars, leaving the other players far behind.

The surprise comes from the second wave in the ranking, which is now headed by the Korean offensive and the traditional German forces. What is striking is that

Kia significantly overtakes Hyundai and manages to make its way to the top with 235 sales,

overtaking Volkswagen, which started the year with 228 registrations. We should also note the stable performance of Dacia (196 units), which continues to be a preferred choice for the rational buyer, managing to hold the lead in the premium segment in the face of BMW (171 units) and the French charm of Renault (164 units).

In the lower half of the Top 10, the situation remains tense, with the differences between manufacturers becoming increasingly minimal. Hyundai continues to decline in the ranking (153 units), fighting with Mercedes-Benz (144 units) for the attention of middle and high-end customers, while Citroen closes the top ten with 124 registered vehicles. Outside the TOP-10 of the current statistics for new car sales in January 2026 are Opel, Audi and Ford, which, despite their rich history, start the year with more modest results of 116, 78 and 76 sales, respectively.
