At least two official importers in our country will be the BYD brand, which is known for producing the best-selling Chinese cars in the world. This news finally answered the question of when the technological colossus BYD will seriously “take hold” of the Bulgarian market. While the official representation is already a fact in the person of Avto Union, an intriguing battle for influence has been raging behind the scenes for quite some time, which could lead to interesting competition for our latitudes.
But the first official blow, as we have already mentioned, came from Avto Union, which is already preparing the terrain at 43 “Christopher Columbus“ Blvd. in Sofia for the first official BYD brand showroom in our country. This is how things get quite interesting, because, as we have already informed you, at the end of last year, BYD brand cars appeared in Sofia malls, which had a QR code leading to the former BMW dealer in our country, Darukar. The official confirmation came in the form of a new specialized website.
And a year before that, in the automotive circles in Bulgaria, there was persistent talk of an option, which in this case could turn out to be a third “player“. We are talking about Mirkat – the Suzuki importer for Bulgaria. The reason? The Greek Sfakianakis Group, whose division is Mirkat, already holds the exclusive rights for BYD in our southern neighbor and is ambitiously striving to become an official representative for the entire Balkan region.
Although Mirkat is keeping a complete silence at this stage and not commenting on the topic, and Darukar is presenting the models with aplomb, the official launch of BYD in Bulgaria under the wing of Avto Union is already underway. With the opening of the first showroom in March and with attractive offers, the BYD brand is giving a clear signal that it has not come simply to be present, but to dominate. Regardless of whether we will have one or three importers, the future of domestic roads looks increasingly electric and, frankly, much more profitable.
