The Moskvich M90, which is preparing to head the brand's model range, was presented in all its glory, and the first real shots of the interior and technical units are already a fact thanks to our colleagues from “Za rulem“. The huge crossover not only impresses with its impressive dimensions, but also makes a clear statement that the era of Spartan equipment in Russian production is finally in the past. But..., it is a Chinese clone again.
Under the sheet metal of this seven-seater giant with a length of almost five meters, a well-known architecture is hidden. In fact, the Moskvich M90 is a direct successor to the Chinese technological thought of the SAIC concern, known in global markets as the Roewe RX9 or under the name MG QS. With a wheelbase of 2,915 mm, the car promises enviable comfort and space that would satisfy even the most demanding family travelers.
Inside the cabin, we are greeted by a real technological landing. Although the final specifications for the local market are still being kept secret, its eastern prototype has everything a modern driver could wish for: from three-zone climate control and a dozen-speaker audio system, to ventilated seats with memory and a panoramic roof that brings the sky directly into the cabin. The soundproofed windshield and 360-degree cameras suggest that a premium feel is sought here, far above basic standards.
The heart of the Moskvich M90 is a 2-liter SAIC 20A4E turbocharged engine, which generates 200 hp. An interesting detail for technical enthusiasts is that this engine has a noble lineage – it is an evolution of the GM MGE family, which once powered models such as the Opel Astra. All this power is transmitted to the road via a modern 9-speed automatic transmission, and customers will be able to choose between front-wheel drive or a 4x4 system for more difficult terrain.
The production process of the crossover using the large-scale assembly method will start at the end of 2025, and the first units are expected to appear in showrooms in March 2026. There is only one big question that concerns future buyers – whether the price will be as impressive as the list of extras.
