An automotive treasure has appeared on the horizon, which makes the heart of every true connoisseur of the three-pointed star beat wildly. It is a real “time capsule” – a brutally rare Mercedes-Benz W124 300 CE-24 Lotec Turbo from the distant 1993. This exclusive convertible, preserved in “better than new” condition, was announced for sale by the renowned specialists from Mechatronik, and the announced price is dizzying – 238,000 euros. Yes, you read that right, as good as a brand new supercar!
Engineering excellence hidden under classic lines
Visually, the car looks like it just came off the assembly line, painted in pristine arctic white, contrasting stunningly with the blue leather interior. But the real magic lies under the hood.
This particular example is no ordinary retro Mercedes. It has undergone a serious metamorphosis in the studio of the cult German tuning company Lotec. The standard 3.0-liter inline-six has been given a boost in the form of a massive Garrett T04 turbocharger with a boost pressure of 0.6 bar. The result is impressive for its time, to say the least – power has jumped from the factory 220 hp to a monstrous 354 hp!
Uncompromising tuning and perfect documentation
To cope with this power, Lotec has completely revised the suspension, installing a low-profile kit that gives the convertible a more aggressive stance. The car sits on the iconic Speedline SL wheels, shod with tires measuring 235/45 ZR17 at the front and 255/40 ZR17 at the rear. Even the engine ventilation has been improved to ensure the reliability of the forced charging.
The best part? All modifications are duly certified by the strict German TÜV and documented down to the last bolt. The car has so-called “matching numbers“ and a regular German registration - a guarantee of authenticity and legality.
Time capsule: Only 780 kilometers!
And here lies the true value of this Mercedes W124. The odometer shows a symbolic 780 kilometers. This is practically a new car that has spent most of its life in an air-conditioned garage. Recently, after a long period of rest, the car underwent a meticulous restoration worth around 15,000 euros to ensure that every system works flawlessly.
Lotec's legacy: When performance is everything
The German company Lotec, founded in 1962, has never been interested in cheap visual tuning. Their philosophy has always been “engineering before design”. In the 80s, they became legendary with their extreme turbo projects, and later they created the Lotec C1000 supercar with an output of almost 1000 hp. Since they have always worked in strictly limited series or on individual orders, each of their projects is today a gold mine for collectors.
This W124 convertible is not just a rare model, it is a unique artifact from the era when German tuners worked real miracles. For the lucky person, who will count 238,000 euros, this will not be just a car purchase, but an investment in history and the acquisition of a true “Holy Grail“ of automotive art.
