Mazda 6e is the most beautiful car in the world

The Japanese have proven that battery power does not mean the end of beauty in automotive engineering

Mazda designers have once again proven that they master the magic of lines that makes the heart of every true car enthusiast flutter. At the New York International Auto Show, the news broke that the fully electric Mazda 6e has been crowned the “World Car Design of the Year“ for 2026. The applause is fully deserved, because the model literally rewrote the rules for how a modern passenger car should look.

The World Car Design of the Year title is not just given for pretty headlights. A jury of 98 experts who closely follow the industry had to sift out the best among 90 contenders. In this fierce competition, the Mazda 6e emerged on top, proving that minimalism and emotion can go hand in hand. With this triumph, the Hiroshima brand takes home its third statuette in the category, placing the new model next to the already legendary Mazda MX-5 and Mazda3.

With the Mazda 6e, the designers have managed to breathe new life into the iconic Kodo philosophy - Soul of Motion. While most electric vehicles resemble impersonal soap dishes, the Mazda 6e looks as if it is moving even when standing still. The sculpted surfaces catch the light magically, and the proportions of the body are simply textbook. The model’s chief designer, Yoshito Iwauchi, says that the goal was to achieve harmony between Japanese craftsmanship and a high-tech future. And we have to give him credit – they did a brilliant job.

Inside the cabin, the situation is no different. The interior envelops you in warmth and hospitality, far from the sterile and cold atmosphere of many of the competitors in the segment. Joe Stanwith from Mazda Motor Europe did not hide his excitement, emphasizing that this award is recognition of the team’s tireless pursuit of artistry. This is not just a means of transportation, but a work of art on wheels that does not compromise on functionality.

For statisticians and history buffs, the triumph of the Mazda 6e is another milestone. Since 2008, when the Mazda 2 won the main title, the brand has consistently been in the elite. Looking to the future and the upcoming electric SUV Mazda CX-6e, the Japanese clearly state that the current in the batteries does not mean the end of beauty in automotive engineering.

Bulgarian fans of the brand also have a reason to smile. The electric jewel Mazda 6e, which we first tested, is now available on the domestic market, with the starting price anchored at 40,490 euros including VAT. And here comes the icing on the cake - a special Eco bonus of 4,000 euros including VAT, which makes the step into the future even more tempting. It's time to admit that the future is not only clean, but also looks stunning.
