Porsche confirms development of new hypercar

The successor to the 918 will use a mid-engine

Porsche has officially stirred up the spirits in automotive circles with the news that it is working on a completely new architecture for a top-tier mid-engine supercar, which will be positioned in the range above the iconic 911 family. This strategic decision comes as part of a large-scale plan to revise and strengthen the brand's sporting identity, with the Germans planning to give a preview of the future flagship through the special Mission S concept project, whose premiere is scheduled for mid-October.

The news from Zuffenhausen comes at a time when the company is rethinking its long-term balance between electric mobility and classic internal combustion engines. Amid the ongoing development of purely electric sports models such as the next-generation 718 Boxster and Cayman, the brand's management has decided to firmly invest new funds in improving gasoline and hybrid powertrain technologies.

The strategy also foresees the appearance of new versions with internal combustion engines, a greater focus on emotional sports modifications and preserving the brand's purebred character, while fans of extreme machines eagerly await details about the long-awaited spiritual successor to the legendary Carrera GT and the hybrid 918 Spyder.
