Mercedes-AMG has officially presented a unique version of its flagship AMG GT 63 coupe model, called the APXGP Edition, which was created specifically in honor of the Hollywood Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt. The premiere of the film, which is eagerly awaited by motorsport fans, is scheduled for June 27, and it is on this date that the German automaker has set the release of the exclusive car.
The film, shot with the participation of real Formula 1 teams, aims to convey the real atmosphere of the “Royal Race“ and in this context, Mercedes-AMG's role in the project goes far beyond simple sponsorship. The brand provided the film crew not only with technical support, but also created special cars based on Formula 2 chassis, and also actively participated in the development of props.
It is important to note that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton played a significant consulting role in the production of the film. Even during his collaboration with Mercedes, he helped the production team make the film as authentic as possible, paying attention to the little things that could violate the sporting credibility. It is thanks to Hamilton that the cinematic version of Formula 1 has become deeper, more accurate and closer to reality.
The APXGP edition copies the livery of the fictional APXGP team, which according to the script is represented by Brad Pitt's character. The car is decorated in matte black, typical of the latest versions of the “tuned” Mercedes-AMG cars, as well as with exclusive gold rims and prints stylized under the racing theme. This is actually the first time in the industry that a supercar has been designed in honor of a team that does not exist in the real world, but only in a film that has not yet been released.
The model is limited to 52 units, which makes it even rarer than the previous special edition Motorsport Collectors Edition, which was produced in a series of 200 cars. The technical characteristics of the new coupe remain unchanged - we are talking about the same Mercedes-AMG GT 63, whose base price is 192 thousand dollars. At the same time, the APXGP Edition is expected to be much more expensive, due to its exclusivity and limited edition.
The official premiere of the supercar took place at the Formula 1 race in Miami - the sixth in a row this season. The event attracted the attention not only of motorsports fans, but also of moviegoers, as this is one of the few cases in which the boundaries between real racing and a feature film are practically blurred. The Formula 1 movie, produced by Apple Original Films in collaboration with the legendary Bruckheimer Films, is expected to usher in a new era in sports drama on the big screen and become an event no less spectacular than the motor racing itself.
