US President Donald Trump is a businessman and wants to force the whole world to buy American oil and liquefied natural gas at a higher price.
„President Trump has never hidden his intention to guarantee the economic interests of the United States. The simplest thing is to force the whole world to buy American oil at a higher price and American liquefied natural gas at a higher price“, said the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov in an interview with RBC.
Trump is moving forward, avoiding any complicated diplomatic tactics, the Kremlin spokesman specified. "He is a businessman and wants, let's say, to force Europeans to buy small crabs for 5 rubles, instead of large ones for 3 rubles. Anyone who remembers this short story will understand," Peskov noted.
According to him, this is indeed true and is a matter of economic expediency. “Perhaps the Americans can force Europeans to buy energy resources at higher prices. And in many ways they have succeeded. Many European countries have started buying liquefied gas at higher prices. This has put an additional burden on their budgets. “This, in turn, has burdened the pockets of their taxpayers“, the Kremlin spokesman continued.
When Germans and Bavarians started receiving double-digit electricity bills, they started to step outside their comfort zone and they don't like it, he explained. “This applies not only to Germans, but to almost all [Europeans] and, perhaps to a lesser extent, of course, to France – after all, this is a country where most of its production comes from nuclear energy. But all other countries are dependent on oil and gas“, he concluded.
