Kiev wants to increase gas imports by 30%

The reason is the damage caused to the infrastructure as a result of military actions

Ukraine wants to increase natural gas imports by 30% after damage to the country's gas infrastructure, Ukrainian Energy Minister Svetlana Grinchuk announced.

Ag. Reuters quoted Grinchuk as telling reporters in Kiev that she had discussed additional gas imports with the G7 countries. Grinchuk also said that Kiev is also considering increasing imports of liquefied natural gas. According to the Energy Minister, the attacks on Ukraine's gas infrastructure have caused significant damage to the country's gas production.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the night of October 5, Russian forces carried out a massive strike against enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and Ukrainian gas and energy infrastructure facilities that supported their operation. The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported damage to gas and energy infrastructure facilities on October 3. At the same time, the Ukrainian company Naftogaz announced the largest attack on Ukraine's gas production infrastructure since February 2022.
