The price of the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization - Bitcoin, has decreased by nearly 5%, according to data from Binance. At the end of European trading, it was trading at 106,021,000 USD, and in the last minutes it fell to 105,188,000 USD (-4.83%).

According to Coinmarketcap, the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies as of October 17 was 3.58 trillion. USD. Bitcoin accounts for 2.109 trillion. USD (58.9%), while Ethereum represents USD 456,055 billion (12.8%).

According to data from Coinglass, global crypto exchanges have liquidated positions of more than 293,000 traders worth USD 1.22 billion in the past 24 hours. Approximately USD 911.62 million were long positions, while USD 307.6 million were short positions. Of this total, Bitcoin represents approximately USD 463.8 million, of which approximately USD 336.33 million were long positions and USD 127.47 million were short positions. The largest liquidation order in the past 24 hours was placed on Hyperliquid – ETH-USD worth 20.42 million USD.

The price of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Ethereum (ETH), has decreased by nearly 8%, according to data from Binance.

At the end of European trading, the price of Ethereum decreased by 5.14%, falling to 3784 USD. It was followed by a decline to 3755 USD (-6.24%).

The current historical peak of Ethereum was reached on August 24, 2025, when the price of the cryptocurrency rose to 4956.78 USD.

According to Coinmarketcap, the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies as of October 17 was 3.56 trillion USD. Bitcoin accounted for 2.094 trillion USD (59%), while Ethereum – 454.156 trillion USD (12.8%).

Coinglass data shows that global crypto exchanges have liquidated positions of more than 288,000 traders in the past 24 hours, totaling USD 1.19 billion. Approximately USD 886.92 million were long positions, while USD 298.94 million were short. Of this amount, Ethereum accounted for approximately USD 278.4 million, of which approximately USD 119.52 million were long positions, and USD 78.88 million were short positions. The largest liquidation order in the past 24 hours was placed on Hyperliquid – ETH-USD worth USD 20.42 million.
