Carmaker Volvo Cars will cut 1,000 of its jobs in Sweden. This is part of a cost-cutting package.

“Around 1,000 jobs are being cut in Sweden“, the company's CFO Fredrik Hansson said in an interview with Sveriges Radio.

At the same time, the company's quarterly results were better than expected. Pre-tax profit in the third quarter rose to 6.2 billion kronor ($658.42 million), despite a 7% year-on-year decline in car sales (to 160,500 vehicles).

In the spring, it was announcedthat the company would cut 3,000 jobs. As part of these cuts, the automaker will also eliminate approximately 1,000 positions currently held by consultants, primarily in Sweden.
