Amancio Ortega - founder of the Inditex clothing chain, which owns the Zara and Bershka brands, topped the list of the richest people in Spain, according to a ranking of the 100 richest citizens of the kingdom, published by Forbes magazine.
The fortune of the 89-year-old majority shareholder of the company is estimated at 109.9 billion euros, although it has decreased by 10.3 billion euros compared to 2024. Second place goes to Sandra Ortega, daughter of the Inditex founder, with 10 billion euros. Next in line is Rafael del Pino Calvo-Sotelo (EUR 8 billion), chairman of Ferrovial, a company operating in the transport and mobility infrastructure sector.
Inditex has over 5,500 stores in approximately 100 countries. Inditex's most famous brands include Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius and Oysho. According to El País, Ortega has topped the Forbes ranking since 2014.
