Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is considering a new phone call with US President Donald Trump to push for a review of US tariffs on Brazilian goods, CNN Brasil reported, citing sources.

According to them, the Brazilian leader intends to speed up negotiations to review the tariffs. Earlier, on November 12, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also agreed to hold a face-to-face meeting. The talks will take place in Washington on November 13.

The US imposed tariffs on Brazilian goods in August. The Brazilian president promised to respond in kind, but later ordered a tariff review to be conducted through negotiations. In October, the two leaders met in Malaysia on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit. After the meeting, Lula da Silva expressed satisfaction with the meeting, saying it could lay the foundation for a restoration of broad-based relations between Brazil and the United States.
