The American streaming service Netflix will acquire the Warner Bros. film studio, including its film and television studios, as well as the streaming platforms HBO and HBO Max.
“The deal combines Warner Bros.' iconic franchises and legendary libraries with Netflix's leading entertainment service, creating an exceptional offering for consumers“, says a press release published on the Netflix website.
The deal is worth 27.75 dollars per share. The total value is approximately 72 billion USD. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
Netflix will retain Warner Bros.' current operations.
As Bloomberg previously noted, this will be Netflix's first deal of this magnitude. The company will gain access not only to its direct competitor HBO's production, including the series “The Sopranos“ and “Game of Thrones“, but also to Warner Bros.'s library, including the “Harry Potter“ series and the series “Friends”.
