The European Parliament has postponed the ratification of the tariff agreement with the United States, which obliges the EU to unilaterally pay 15% tariffs to the United States, Reuters reported.

A vote on the agreement in the European Parliament's Trade Committee, scheduled for Tuesday, has already been postponed. The commission must approve the agreement before the European Parliament votes on it in plenary.

This is the second delay in the ratification of the document. The first was postponed in January amid US demands for Greenland.

In turn, European Commission spokesman Olof Gill said at a briefing in Brussels that the European Commission “expects legal clarity from the US“ on the situation following the US Supreme Court ruling, which effectively declared the tariffs illegal, and the US administration, which subsequently increased “global tariffs“ by another 5%.

Earlier, the European Commission issued a statement stressing Brussels' readiness to uphold its part of the agreement, provided that its provisions remain unchanged and tariffs for Europe are not increased again.
