Qatari company recognizes Kazakhstan's telecommunications market as profitable

PIH intends to expand its activities in the telecommunications market through the acquisition of Mobile Telecom Service

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Muataz Al-Hayat and Ramez Al-Hayat, heads of Power International Holding (PIH), in Akorda, Kazinform reports, citing Akorda.

During the meeting, the prospects for joint investment projects in the energy and telecommunications sectors were discussed.

The head of state emphasized that large-scale gas projects in processing, transportation and electricity generation are a key element of Kazakh-Qatari investment cooperation and significantly contribute to strengthening the energy security of our country.

PIH intends to expand its activities in the telecommunications market through the acquisition of Mobile Telecom Service (Tele2).

Tokayev expressed confidence that the company's participation will contribute to the modernization of telecommunications infrastructure, improving the quality of services and expanding their accessibility for the population.

Power International Holding (PIH) – One of the largest diversified holding companies in Qatar, operating in construction, food processing, healthcare and information technologies. The deal with Altel was one of PIH's largest investments in the telecommunications sector in Central Asia.

In early 2025, the sale of Mobile Telecom-Service (Tele2 and Altel) to the Qatari holding Power International Holding was completed.
