Oil prices could hit $200 per barrel due to Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, according to General Ebrahim Jabari, an advisor to the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
„We have closed the Strait of Hormuz. The price of oil has already exceeded $80 and will soon reach $200. The United States, whose life and death depend on oil, is suffering from debts and internal problems. America is thirsty for oil. Let them know that for now we have closed the Strait of Hormuz and are not allowing ships to pass through it“, ISNA quoted him as saying.
He added that Iran would hit „any country that tries to export fuel from here; has already hit several ships“.
