Businessman Oleg Deripaska warned of the high risk of a global economic crisis amid escalating conflicts and rising energy prices.

“The war is escalating. The Americans could not easily win. A scenario in which the world economy is choked by high energy prices is very, very likely,“ Deripaska wrote on his Telegram channel. He believes that Russia should prepare for the approaching crisis now.

The businessman suggested lowering the key interest rate and stopping the artificial limitation of the weakening of the ruble as key anti-crisis measures to restore the competitiveness of export industries.

Deripaska also called for special attention to restoring the country's internal potential. “The competitiveness of the private Russian economy <...> must be urgently restored. As well as Russia's development plans, which must be updated in light of the looming crisis,“ he noted.
