Grand Hotel Therme in Banya in the Razlog municipality is the best SPA hotel in Bulgarian villages for 2026. It was awarded first place in the ranking of the top 30 best SPA hotels in Bulgarian villages for 2026 in the new spring issue of Travel&Lifestyle magazine.
Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva presented the award yesterday to Nevena Vodenicharska from the management team of Grand Hotel Therme during a ceremony at the capital's Iconic Studio.
SPA tourism in Bulgarian villages has been developing more and more actively in recent years, thanks to the wealth of mineral springs and pure nature, announced Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva. Bulgaria is among the leading countries in Europe in terms of the number of mineral waters, with over 550 deposits and about 1,600 mineral springs, which creates excellent conditions for balneo and SPA tourism. “Many of these springs are located precisely in small settlements and villages, where modern SPA hotels and complexes are already being built“, said Minister Georgieva. The combination of mountain air, mineral water and tranquility turn villages into destinations and a preferred place for relaxation, retreat and family vacation, she added.
Grand Hotel Therme has the largest SPA complex in Bulgaria. The hotel offers a variety of specialized thermal areas and pools, including the Infinity Pool, Experience Pool and the impressive “Star Pool“ with mineral water, whose natural properties enrich the wellness experience. The SPA complex also has unique thermal and wellness rooms – the ice room, the honey room and the bio sauna – which provide exceptional sensory experiences. In second place in the ranking is the new five-star luxury and boutique hotel - Villa Rossa Luxury & Spa Residence, located in the village of Narechenski Bani. The building is a former government residence from the communist era, and Todor Zhivkov and the other members of the Politburo stayed there. The communist dictator's personal room was used only by him.
Third place is for Zornitza Family Estate Relais & Chateaux, in the village of Zornitsa, Melnik. It has hot mineral water and is part of the international hotel chain for luxury estates - Relais & Châteaux. This is one of the most luxurious complexes in Bulgaria.
The ranking is arranged impartially based on the reviews of the customers themselves on the booking platforms Booking, Hotels.com, Agoda, Tripadvisor, Facebook, Google, etc., number of comments, prices, category, as well as personal visits of our journalists last year. It includes properties that have exceptional comfort, furnishings, service, good food, attractions, entertainment. It does not include hotels in SPA destinations in cities that are arranged in another of our rankings.
