Japanese automobile corporation Toyota Motor sold more than 10.47 million vehicles in the fiscal year 2025 (ending March 31, 2025). This is the first time in two years that Toyota has set a new sales record.
Sales were at record high levels despite various challenges, including trade tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in the United States, which are particularly painful for Japan in the automotive industry.
A sharp decline in exports to the Middle East did not prevent the record performance. This figure collapsed by 46.4% in March due to the escalation of tensions around Iran following the strikes by the United States and Israel.
Toyota's global sales in the fiscal year 2025 increased by 2%. Sales in Japan decreased by 2% (to 1.48 million units), while overseas sales increased by 2.7% (to 9 million units).
