Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, speaking in the information-analytical program “V politika“ on the TA-3 TV channel, stated that Russia is one of the main suppliers of liquefied gas to Europe. “Russia is currently the second largest supplier of liquefied gas to Europe“, he said.
Fico also criticized the EU's policy of limiting Russian energy supplies to EU countries, stating that Slovakia is interested in cheap energy supplies from Russia.
The ban on the import of Russian energy resources, according to Fico, is an attempt to erect a new “iron curtain“. “This is the official policy of creating a new "an 'iron curtain' between Europe, the Russian Federation and the East as such," he said. The Slovak prime minister also recalled that a number of European countries receive Russian nuclear fuel for their nuclear power plants. "The war [in Ukraine] will end, but what will we do now...? Shall we build a hundred-meter 'iron curtain'?" asked the head of the Slovak government.
