The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Sofia, the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo are organizing today the conference “Consolidation of the European Defense Industry - opportunities and challenges“.
The conference is being held within the framework of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union under the honorary patronage of Mr. Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth of the Republic of Bulgaria, who will open the event together with the Ambassador of Poland Mr. Maciej Szymanski, the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Dr. Eng. Daniel Panov and Ms. Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the EC Representation in Bulgaria.
Representatives of Polish and Bulgarian defense industry companies, as well as institutions shaping the defense policy of both countries, will meet in Veliko Tarnovo. The conference aims to share experience, strengthen existing partnerships, and establish new contacts. Together, we will seek innovative solutions and technologies for our defense industries, which are facing the unprecedented deterioration of the security situation caused by the Russian aggression against Ukraine. In this regard, an invitation to participate in the conference was also extended to representatives of this country, who can share the Ukrainian experience from the battlefields, enriching the discussion and its conclusions.
The motto of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU is “Security, Europe!“, and one of our priorities is strengthening the European defense industry in order to overcome the existing deficits in our defense capabilities. Therefore, within the framework of the conference, we will discuss European policies with a focus on the ReArm rearmament plan and the readiness strategy. At the same time, we will try to answer the question of how Bulgaria and Poland can contribute to the implementation of new EU policies and the successful absorption of funds intended for this purpose.
