The presidential candidate of Poland from the opposition (former ruling) right-wing party “PiS“ Karol Nawrocki stated that if elected to the highest state post, he has no intention of giving up the Polish national currency and switching to the euro.
“Euro or Polish zloty? Personally, I am against the liquidation of the Polish currency“, he writes in X.
According to Nawrocki, the transition to the euro will mean “price hike, renunciation of financial independence“ as well as the transfer of part of the “financial reserves to the European Central Bank in Germany“.
As a result of the first round of the presidential election on May 18, Nawrocki received 29.54% of the vote, losing to Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski with 31.36%. The decisive second round of the election will be held on June 1.
