Kazakhstan has entered the top twenty countries in the world in terms of gold reserves, thanks to a 2.2-fold increase in gold ore production over the past decade. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Iran Sharkhan.

On the sidelines of the 15th International Mining and Metallurgical Congress Astana Mining & Metallurgy, the Deputy Minister noted that metals today are not only a commodity, but also an instrument of economic and political power. He emphasized that against the backdrop of growing global competition, Kazakhstan maintains stability, neutrality and predictability.

„Over the past ten years, gold ore production has increased 2.2 times. Accordingly, refined gold production has increased 2.2 times. This allowed Kazakhstan to enter the top 20 countries in the world in terms of gold reserves.“ “In order to increase the existing potential, it is necessary to actively develop geological exploration“, said Sharkhan at the session “Transformation of the Mining and Metallurgical Complex: Responses to Global Challenges and Market Changes“.

The congress is held on June 4-5 in Astana. The two-day business program of the congress is planned to consider a wide range of issues related to the development of the mining and metallurgical industry and technological solutions in the industry.
