Artificial intelligence (AI) is likely to become the last technological revolution of humanity. This was stated in an interview with the newspaper “Renmin Ribao“ by the founder and CEO of the Chinese company Huawei Ren Zhengfei.
“AI could become the last technological revolution of human society“, he said. According to the CEO, the scale and consequences of the development of AI are different from all previous stages of human development. If earlier technologies improved human labor, now we are talking about replacing intelligence itself and delegating further progress not to people, but to machines.
The head of Huawei also indicated that key AI algorithms in the future will be developed not so much by IT specialists as by industrial companies. Ren Zhengfei believes that “algorithms are not born in IT departments, but by power engineers, builders, doctors and farmers - by those who understand the essence of the processes“. He also expressed confidence that Chinese industry will become the main platform for the implementation of applied artificial intelligence, and the country will develop its own models adapted to the national infrastructure.
Huawei is developing a model of the new Ascend 910D processor for artificial intelligence technologies, which will be able to replace the chips of the American corporation Nvidia. It is expected to be more productive than its American competitor H100. The Chinese company plans to receive the first sample batch of processors by the end of May. In addition, Huawei intends to deliver more than 800,000 Ascend 910B and Ascend 910C processors to customers this year.
