Turkish companies are interested in extending expiring gas agreements with Russia and work is underway with Gazprom on their extension. “Turkish partners are interested in extending expiring contracts. In this regard, we are working with “Gazprom“, they are interacting, work is underway, corresponding to commercial terms“, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told journalists.

Earlier, the minutes of the 19th meeting of the joint Russian-Turkish intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation said that Russia and Turkey are interested in extending gas supply and export contracts on mutually beneficial terms.

Following the results of 2024 Russia increased gas supplies via pipelines to Turkey by 2.6%, to just over 21 billion cubic meters. The Russian Federation supplies gas to Turkey via two pipelines across the Black Sea: “Blue Stream“ and “Turkish Stream“.

Turkey has the opportunity to receive Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG), it all depends on commercial terms. This was reported to journalists by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

“Turkey receives LNG from all over the world, so they have terminals. Our spot supplies or volumes that may be on world markets can also be received by Turkish enterprises. It depends on the commercial terms of specific projects. Somewhere there may be spot, somewhere - long-term contracts“, he said.
