The Slovak authorities will continue the policy of protecting the national agricultural market from cheap products from Ukraine. This was announced to journalists by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
„Slovak farmers have concerns about Ukrainian agricultural products, about the fact that because of the Ukrainian market there will be pressure on the national market in order to lower prices. This will harm Slovak farmers. I assure you that Slovakia protects its farmers. We will continue to implement this policy“, Fico said.
Slovakia has a ban on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower seeds, honey, soybeans, barley, flour, bran, sugar cane and beet from Ukraine. According to the authorities, supplies of these types of Ukrainian agricultural products to the national market will resume only after the European Union takes effective measures to protect European farmers.
