After the summit in Rio de Janeiro, the leaders of the BRICS countries intend to adopt a declaration expressing dissatisfaction with unilateral coercive economic measures, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.

According to its information, the BRICS countries want to include in the text of the final document a condemnation of “unilateral coercive measures that contradict international law“. In addition, the communiqué plans to include a clause of “serious concern“ unilateral tariffs and non-tariff measures.

Despite the fact that the document does not plan to directly name any country, the BRICS members in this formulation “clearly mention the United States in light of the introduction of unilateral tariffs around the world by US President Donald Trump“.

The BRICS summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7. The main topics of discussion will be issues related to health, trade, investment, finance, climate change, artificial intelligence governance, peacebuilding and security.
