Astana will implement a pilot project to launch the first 10G broadband network. The pilot project is being implemented within the framework of the agreement concluded between the Akim of Astana and Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan LLP at the China-Central Asia Forum for Industrial and Investment Cooperation.
When and where will the testing begin
The demonstration testing is planned to begin before the end of September this year. Preparatory work has already begun, including the collection and delivery of the necessary equipment.
The exact location is still being specified, but a demonstration in one of the branches of the capital's bank is being considered as a preliminary site. The testing area will be determined later.
Who can participate
The pilot project is open to everyone - citizens, representatives of state agencies, businesses, as well as employees of the Telecommunications Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, and the Akimat of the capital will be the first to test the new generation Internet.
How the connection will be organized
Subscribers will be connected through the existing or modernized infrastructure of Internet providers. No special registration is required. "However, since this is a new and high-speed technology, to fully use all its advantages, you will need equipment that supports data transfer at speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s", the department noted.
What is needed for 10G Internet
To use 10G Internet, you will need a computer or laptop equipped with a network card that supports 10 Gbit/s.
"In most standard devices, the built-in network card supports speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s, and to use 10G, you may need to install an external or internal (PCIe) 10G network card (for example, TP-Link TX401, ASUS XG-C100C, etc.), as well as a router with Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 support and a compatible device,", experts explain.
At the same time time, if the device does not support 10G, the user will still be able to use the Internet, but at a speed limited by the capabilities of the equipment.
Testing duration
The test period will be up to 30 days. During this time, specialists will evaluate:
download and data transfer speed; connection stability; quality of 4K and 8K video streams without delays and loss of quality. What's next?
If the tests show high efficiency, Internet providers, including Beeline, will scale the project independently in stages in the coming years. Beeline has already provided a communication channel for the test, confirming its readiness for future loads and expansion.
The implementation of 10G in Astana is carried out exclusively through investments from Huawei.
