This year, more than 7 million tons of wheat have been produced in Bulgaria - according to the latest data from agricultural statistics. The increase is due to the larger areas sown in the autumn of last year.

7,131,095 tons of wheat - this is the amount that Bulgarian grain producers managed to harvest this summer, BNR specifies. The data are from the official statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture, with 99 percent of the areas harvested. So in practice, the experts who months ago predicted a larger volume of production despite climate fluctuations and natural disasters this year, turned out to be right.

The wheat harvest exceeds last year's harvest by 10%, and the growth is due to the fact that farmers planted larger areas in the fall.

While last year farmers planted over 11.3 million acres with wheat, this year the areas are nearly one million acres more. The harvested grain last summer was about 6.5 million tons, while this summer it is over 650,000 tons more, according to the data.
