Today, Kazakhstan has clearly confirmed its status as an international transit hub, said Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev at a government meeting, a Kazinform correspondent reports.

"Kazakhstan is located in the directions of international trade. 5 international railway corridors operate through us. Over the past 10 years, the volume of transit has doubled and in 2024 it reached 27.4 million tons. Taking into account the work done in the railway sector, the volume of transit this year will reach 33 million tons. And next year it should be more than 54 million, the minister said.

The volume of transit traffic is planned to increase to 67 million tons by the end of 2029.

- According to forecasts of international experts (KPMG and PwC), by 2035 the volume of transit cargo will reach 100 million tons (4.4 trillion tenge). In the future, our goal is to reach this figure earlier, Nurlan Sauranbayev added.
