US President Donald Trump believes that the estimates of the Congressional Budget Office, according to which these measures could bring the US 4 trillion USD in revenue over 10 years, confirm the effectiveness of the trade tariffs he has imposed.
The head of the Washington administration emphasized during a speech at the White House, commenting on the publication of the aforementioned forecast: “A radical left structure declared that Trump was right“. As he emphasized, “the tariffs will reduce the deficit by 4 trillion USD“.
On his Truth Social page, the American leader also expressed confidence that the service “has finally realized how wonderful the tariff strategy“ of the Washington administration is. He noted that earlier, the department's specialists “refused to recognize the potential success“ of the mentioned measures.
Earlier, on August 22, the US Congressional Budget Office presented estimates according to which the budget deficit in the country over the next 10 years could decrease by a total of 4 trillion USD if tariff rates remain at the same level. The US national debt currently exceeds 37 trillion USD.
On April 2, Trump announced the introduction of tariffs on products from 185 countries and territories. Later, the American leader changed the tariff rate for a number of countries.
