The American company Apple is preparing buyers for a new price line - an iPhone for 2,000 USD, Bloomberg reported.

According to their data, when Apple introduced the iPhone X in 2017, the company not only introduced facial recognition and a frameless screen, but also created a new category - a smartphone for 1,000 USD. It is noted that in the eight years since its launch, prices have increased slightly.

As Bloomberg points out, before the presentation of the iPhone 17, analysts predicted a significant increase in price due to US President Donald Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods. However, the price increase turned out to be moderate. The price of the Pro models has risen from $999 to $1,099, but Apple has softened the blow by including a base memory of up to 256 GB in the device.

At the same time, the agency predicts that “such a limitation will not last forever“. Apple will not be able to bear the costs of tariffs indefinitely, and transferring iPhone production from China and India will not eliminate the problem of rising costs. The company has already begun to signal that the era of the $2,000 iPhone is approaching. The iPhone 17 Pro Max offers a version with 2 terabytes of memory for the first time at a price of $1,999, Bloomberg notes. It is emphasized that “Apple would not set such a price if it was not confident that a significant portion of customers were willing to pay it.“

Apple's first foldable iPhone is expected to arrive next year with features that compete with models from Samsung and Google, which currently sell for $1,799 - $2,419 depending on configuration. Considering that the iPhone Air with a regular screen costs $999 and many of its components will be used in the future foldable phone, that model is likely to cost at least twice as much, even before taking into account memory expansion, cases and accessories.
