Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev has launched an online survey, in which he asks citizens and businesses what they think the prices for paid parking in Sofia should be and whether a new red parking zone should be established, bTV reported. The survey is anonymous.
„We want to know whether to expand the scope of the zones, whether to change the prices and duration of parking. We would be grateful if you could share the survey with your relatives, friends and neighbors so that we can hear the opinions of as many citizens as possible. This will help us make the fairest decisions about parking in the city“, the mayor of Sofia wrote on social networks.
The survey questions are related to age, place of residence, mode of transportation and parking. Here are some of them:
- If there is no zone in the neighborhood where you live, would you support the introduction of a paid parking zone?
- Should the zones operate on Saturdays and/or Sundays?
- What should the working hours of the zones be?
- Do you support the introduction of a red zone (more expensive than blue) in the busiest places in the center of Sofia?
- Where should the green zone be expanded?
We recall that the idea of expanding the paid parking zones was the idea of the municipal councilors from “Save Sofia“. Their project envisaged the opening of a “red zone“ in the section between the boulevards “Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi“, “Pencho Slaveykov“, “Hristo Botev“ and “Dondukov“. There, hourly parking was proposed to cost 5 leva per hour, and the subscription for people who live there – 200 leva per year.
Regarding the expansion of the green zone, the proposal is that it should reach “Studentski Grad“, covering the area around “G.M. Dimitrov“ Blvd.
However, their proposal was rejected by the Sofia Municipal Council, on the grounds that it had not been discussed in detail.
