The case against Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev is political. There are so many facts and circumstances that indicate that this is a “political prisoner”. There is no evidence against this person.
This was stated to NOVA by the chairman of the DSB, Gen. Atanas Atanasov.
According to him, this is a political process by the ruling party with the aim of harming the opposition.
“They are holding him because they believe that in this way they are accumulating negativity on our political force. Because for a long time a phrase has been used - Blagomir Kotsev-PP-DB-corruption. There is not a single significant case against a person from the ruling party or connected to the ruling coalition. And everyone knows that, in principle, corruption is where the money is distributed by the rulers,” Atanasov added.
„During the period after the changes in Bulgaria after the Grand National Assembly, 44 votes of no confidence have been held against various governments in our country. This will be the 45th. Of all, only one has been successful. When Kiril Petkov's cabinet was overthrown after the spin of "There is such a people". And since we are talking about usurping repressive power, we have more than two years of serving as the Prosecutor General. The law states that this cannot happen for more than 6 months. The same is true of the State Security Agency. These institutions, connected to each other, ultimately conduct punitive operations against the opposition and against those inconvenient to the authorities. And this is a very serious, strong argument for demanding the resignation of this government”, Atanasov also said.
Regarding the attack on the police chief in Ruse, Atanasov commented on whether it is possible for GERB to demand the resignation of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov.
„There is no sentiment with Borisov. If the Interior Minister needs to be replaced for all practical reasons, he will be replaced. And it will not happen because of this case in Ruse. These are some internal matters of theirs that they are arranging. It was not by chance that I said some time ago that Daniel Mitov's head is on the line. I can see that the minister is seriously nervous”, Atanasov explained.
