„We have implemented the decision of the National Assembly and the people's representatives, who obliged the Council of Ministers to create a water management unit. This is a new approach to solving the water problem. Water management is in the Ministry of Environment and Water, but the ownership of the entire infrastructure is in the various ministries“.

This was said in „Face to Face“ on bTV after the central news program by the Minister of Environment and Waters, Manol Genov.

„The first priority is the provision of water for drinking and domestic needs. Before the creation of this board, we held monthly meetings with the Ministry of Energy, where we discussed the permits that the Ministry of Environment and Water issues for irrigation and energy“, the minister also pointed out.

“Due to the lack of water, we have saved about 2 billion cubic meters of water. This is a huge amount. We have saved 200 million cubic meters for irrigation. Pleven has a different water supply and it is not from a dam, partly from the “Cherni Osam“ dam, said the Minister of Environment.

“The Pleven network was built 70-80 years ago. Where has the management of ViK-Pleven been for so many years“, Genov asked.

“The Bulgarian Development Bank will support ViK Holding and Bulgarian municipalities. Water supply and sanitation companies have functions and responsibilities to eliminate accidents, to balance the water supply, but they are not construction companies. The owner of the network is the municipality“, Genov also pointed out.

According to him, legislative changes related to water supply and sanitation projects are also planned.
