Second person detained for the shooting at the Sports School in Haskovo. After the student who fired a gas gun through the window of the classroom, the man who provided the weapon to the ninth-grader is also in custody.
The 16-year-old football player who shot at the Sports School will be charged with hooliganism today. The punishment provided by law is probation or public reprimand.
„It was found that he reproduced a shot during the long break, through the window of one of the classrooms in which he was. There were other classmates inside the classroom. No one was injured in the incident“, said Haskovo District Prosecutor Rumen Sirakov.
A 41-year-old man who provided the weapon to the child was also detained.
“It has been established beyond doubt that this adult took the weapon without the knowledge of his father, in whose name the gas pistol is legally registered in Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office, and provided it to the minor“, said Com. Miroslav Hristov – the director of the ODMVR-Haskovo.
„There are violated provisions of the law on weapons, ammunition and explosives and pyrotechnics“, explained the supervising prosecutor Zornitsa Prodanova.
The 16-year-old football player told the investigators that he bought the gun for 150 leva, took it to school to show off, and that's why he shot. After the incident, the school is considering tightening control.
„I will require metal detectors from our security company, which is reliable, and, if necessary, we will take this measure“, said the director Silvia Tencheva.
This is the student's first offense. The pedagogical council is about to decide whether he should be expelled from the school.
