On the occasion of Independence Day, the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova recalled the motto inscribed on the building of the National Assembly – “Unity makes strength“.

Then, when we are together, we can achieve much more than what each one can achieve alone“, Kiselova noted, quoted by bTV.

By tradition, the celebrations today began from the church “Holy 40 Martyrs“ in Veliko Tarnovo, where in 1908 Prince Ferdinand declared Bulgaria an independent state.

The issue of independence, of course, besides personal self-perception, is also a question of the Bulgarian state clearly stating its interests and fighting for them in the global world.

As 117 years ago, today the international situation is not calm and it is normal in certain cases to seek allies in order to achieve our goals.

Bulgaria is a country that respects international treaties and complies with international law. Back then we did not comply much, but this is important for us and for our self-esteem“.
