Behind the planned repair of the heat transfer network in Druzhba 2, there is a plan for new loans that will be requested when the pipes have already been excavated, 40,000 Sofia residents will be out in the cold and the economic majority will put the Municipal Council in front of a fait accompli. This was stated by “Save Sofia” at a briefing before an extraordinary commission, which is expected to hear the management of Toplofikatsiya in the Sofia Municipal Council today.

Promises to complete the repair in three months sound unrealistic according to “Save Sofia”. “So far, Toplofikatsiya has repaired a maximum of 3 kilometers per year. Now the management claims that it will repair 10 kilometers and only in 3 months. This is physically impossible,“ believes Emilia Angelova, municipal councilor from “Save Sofia“. “They are about to excavate, people will suffer for 3 months, including Christmas, they will stop work and will justify that the money is not enough and will ask for a loan of hundreds of millions to finish the work.“, she adds. “This year, all investments in the business plan of Toplofikatsiya are worth 20 million leva, and this new renovation in Druzhba alone is estimated to cost 47 million leva, and it will most likely be even more expensive.“, concludes Angelova.

Boris Bonev, leader of “Save Sofia“, points out that five months ago his party offered him an independent technical audit to see the real state of the company, because according to him, “there is no clear justification for why the renovations start precisely from Druzhba 2“. Boris Bonev recalled that more than a year ago from “Save Sofia“ insist on transparent competitions for a new leadership, but instead the economic majority of GERB and BSP in the municipal council chose temporary appointments that clearly do not work in the interest of Sofia residents.

Bonev also commented on the news that Delyan Peevski has filed a report with the prosecutor's office about the renovation in Druzhba. “Borisov and GERB should have given a prosecutor - they still manage the company today, as they have managed it for the last 20 years. From today we have a clear signal that Peevski is eager to take Sofia. Apparently, the division of Bulgaria that he and Borisov made is starting to crack. This is very bad news for the capital, and for the country. “Save Sofia“ has always been a staunch opponent of GERB, and now we are also opposing their coalition partner - Novo nachalo.”, Bonev also stated.

„Spasi Sofia“ has already submitted a proposal for a technical audit, voted against the opaque business plan of „Toplofikatsiya“, insisted on a change in the management of the company and publicly raised the issue of prioritizing repairs. The party emphasizes that only a transparent competition for the company's management bodies can put an end to the chaos and irresponsibility.
