A total of 38 sections from the republican road network have so far been certified for sectional control for measuring average speed. Ten more sections from the first-class network have been added to the already designated sections, which have passed the mandatory initial inspection by the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology.
The list of all certified sections is published on the website of the National Toll Administration in the “Questions and Answers“ section, https://bgtoll.bg/vaprosi-i-otgovori. The data is updated for each new section that has passed the mandatory initial inspection. It contains information about the road, the starting and ending points of the section, as well as a link to a map with its exact location.
All sections certified so far by the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology are:

The time taken by the vehicle to travel the distance is recorded using cameras at the beginning and end of each section, and its average speed is calculated. If it is higher than the maximum permissible according to the Road Traffic Act, the violation is registered and the data is provided by the National Toll Administration of the Ministry of Interior, which imposes the appropriate sanctions. The National Toll Administration and the Ministry of Interior work together to implement effective control in support of road safety.
