RIA: Allow more time if you are going to travel on "Trakia"

In three sections of the motorway in the districts of Sofia, Pazardzhik and Sliven, repairs are being carried out in the lane towards Burgas this week and traffic is being redirected two-way to the lane towards the capital

The "Road Infrastructure" Agency appeals to drivers who have a trip on the "Trakia" motorway ahead of them to allow more time for travel and to strictly observe the road signs and the temporary traffic organization introduced.

In three sections of the motorway in the districts of Sofia, Pazardzhik and Sliven, repairs are being carried out in the lane in the direction of Burgas this week and traffic is redirected in both directions to the lane for the capital.

Therefore, during peak hours, when many people set off at the same time, a column of cars forms and movement is slower. The analysis of the data shows that the most intense traffic is between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the section of the motorway in Sofia district. On average, 1,200 vehicles have passed through the section per hour in the direction of Plovdiv in recent days, with a throughput capacity of about 900 vehicles per lane on the route under repair, and 1,100 vehicles in the direction from Plovdiv to Sofia, with a throughput capacity of 700 vehicles per lane.

We remind you that in the section of the “Trakia“ motorway in Sofia region between the 24th and 33rd km, to increase safety, every Friday and Saturday, during the repair work, reverse traffic is organized. From 12:00 on Friday to 15:00 on Saturday, there are two lanes for Burgas and one for Sofia, and from 15:00 on Saturday to 12:00 on Friday, there is one lane for Burgas and two lanes to the capital.

The “Road Infrastructure“ Agency appeals to drivers to drive with increased caution, to strictly observe the temporary organization and road signs. Citizens traveling to and from Plovdiv can also use alternative routes - the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Sofia - Karlovo, as well as the Ihtiman road - Samokov.

The agency apologizes to citizens for the inconvenience caused, but the repair work is necessary to ensure traffic safety and increase travel comfort. Drivers are required to comply with traffic rules and speed limits, and not to undertake risky overtaking that endangers the safety of all other travelers.
