Blagomir Kotsev's lawyer: There is nothing incriminating against the mayor of Varna in the SRC recordings

We witnessed two completely unfounded recusals in the case

There is no meeting documented by special intelligence means (SRC) between the witness in the case against Blagomir Kotsev and former deputy mayor Dian Ivanov and the businesswoman who filed the report - Plamenka Dimitrova. There is nothing incriminating against the mayor of Varna in the recordings. This was stated by one of Blagomir Kotsev's defenders - lawyer Nikolay Vladimirov, on the air of "Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov".

"We will file a new request for a review of the measure of detention "detention in custody" "to the mayor," the lawyer added.

According to Vladimirov, the mayor does not want to step foot in the municipality if his measure is changed to a lighter one, so as not to be accused of influencing the investigation. However, this does not mean that Kotsev does not intend to return to office when the case is over.

"We witnessed two completely unfounded recusals in the case. There is no such hypothesis provided for in the Criminal Procedure Code - to feel uncomfortable with public opinion and not do the job you are paid for," the lawyer said.

The lawyer revealed that SRCs were used in relation to the accused persons and one witness - Dian Ivanov. He emphasized that for the first time in the fourth session, the court referred to 1-2 sentences from the recordings that did not concern Kotsev and the municipal councilors.

"In the beginning, the investigation was also directed against Ivanov," Vladimirov noted.

According to him, there is no proven receipt or giving of amounts by Dian Ivanov. "There is also no evidence of money being given in person to the municipal councilor Nikolay Stefanov, which would have reached the PP party through the mayor of Varna", the lawyer emphasized.

He also announced that Dian Ivanov is already a practicing lawyer, he registered with the Varna bar a few days ago, and has filed an explicit request with the prosecutor's office to be questioned, but this has not yet happened.

"We have not spoken as Kotsev's lawyers with Dian Ivanov, but if I could, I would summon him", the lawyer added.

A few weeks ago, it became clear that the court had also referred to what was said by the construction businessman Trayan Georgiev, who had a meeting with Blagomir Kotsev in connection with a construction contract. According to him, after it was explained to him that his documents were in order, the head of the mayor's office, Antoaneta Petrova, told him that Kotsev "wants 60 grand of the new currency".

"The meeting was not only with the mayor, a large number of municipal employees were present. Georgiev signed up for the reception day", the lawyer explained.

He explained that the construction businessman wanted to build a building with a large area, but his applications were from 5-6 years ago and no one allowed him to do so.

"It turns out that the boulevard where he wants to build must be moved at the expense of the municipality. A month after the meeting held at the city hall, an ultimatum was requested to issue a PUP, followed by a threat to the National Security Agency and the prosecutor's office, explained Vladimirov.

The defense attorney also commented on the testimony of the head of the "Nikola Y. Vaptsarov" higher education school in Varna, Fleet Admiral Prof. Kalin Kalinov, according to whom businessman Ivaylo Marinov insisted on signing a new contract for the supply of food, even though the school had an active one.

"These testimonies are from the very beginning and have nothing to do with the accusations against Kotsev and the municipal councilors," concluded lawyer Vladimirov.
