Police statistics show that in 2023, 96 crimes were registered for attacks on medical professionals. In 2024, they were 99. For the period from January 1, 2025 to September 10, they were 75. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Interior Toni Todorov during the event on the topic: "Medics on target. How is sick trust treated?", BTA reports. The forum is part of the National Campaign of the Professional Organization against Violence against Medical Professionals #FightAnger.
The total number of registered attacks on medical professionals remains disturbing, said the Deputy Minister. He stated that institutions and professional organizations must work together to deal with aggression against medics. Todorov assured that the Ministry of Interior is committed to the cause of protecting medics.
According to the Deputy Minister, the analysis of the signals shows a trend that attacks on doctors prevail in certain regions of the country, and the reasons for this may be complex. A clear profile of the perpetrator of such attacks is also emerging, as these are people from socially vulnerable groups with low economic status and educational qualifications, said Toni Todorov.
