Five ancient settlements have been discovered along the route of the future "Ruse - Veliko Tarnovo" highway, BNT reported.
However, the archaeological sites will not hinder the construction, the RIA announced.
Currently, work is underway on the section of the bypass route near the town of Byala, as well as on the strengthening of the loess soils. Over 60% of the owners' compensation has already been paid.
The highway, worth over 2 billion leva, is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2029.
