Kilometer-long traffic jams on the "Trakia" highway

If the weather is good, the repairs will be completed by October 25th

Heavy traffic and kilometer-long traffic jams on the "Trakia" highway. The reason is a new repair of three sections, bTV reported.

The traffic is very busy. It is extremely difficult for cars to move on the road due to the bad weather conditions. Drivers should be patient.

"The Trakia highway is the busiest, especially the Sofia-Plovdiv section, where heavy traffic is diverted to the "Maritsa" highway; mainly and due to the repairs you can see that a temporary traffic organization has been introduced. The permeability of the highway has been reduced in the section from 23 to 34 km, said the director of the regional road department, engineer Rumen Sechanski.

"Unfortunately, in this section Vakarel-Ihtiman, we cannot provide citizens with a bypass route, as the road is in very poor condition. Renovations began 20 years ago and are unfinished, but fortunately a contractor for the section was selected last year. A project for the repair of road 1-8 is currently being prepared," said engineer Sechanski.

Currently, weather conditions do not suggest asphalt activities, but nevertheless, the binder will begin to be laid from Saturday. "The contractor has committed to hand over the site to us by October 25, of course, we may be delayed due to the rain", informed the director of the regional road department.

Kaloyan Iliev, mayor of Ihtiman - "The bypass route is in poor condition. There is a traffic jam on the highway only when there is an accident or a stuck car", commented Kaloyan Iliev, mayor of Ihtiman.
