Today at 8:00 a.m., the new 10-kilometer section of the "Hemus" highway between the "Boaza" and "Dermantsi" road junctions for vehicles up to 12 tons was opened to traffic, reports the Bulgarian National Radio. Later, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov and the leader of the party-mandate holder Boyko Borisov will inspect the newly built section of the highway.

The new route of the highway begins at 88 km from the "Boaza" road junction and reaches the intersection with the Lukovit – Ugarchin road, including the "Dermantsi" road junction. The connection with the republican road network will be established through the two road junctions.

The construction of a stage connection at 103 km is in its final stage, which will connect the newly constructed route of the highway and the existing Lukovit - Ugarchin road. Traffic will pass through it until the final completion and commissioning of the next section of the "Hemus" motorway.

The section from the "Dermantsi" road junction to the stage connection at 103 km of the motorway is expected to be completed next month.

In the new section of the motorway, in addition to the two large road junctions "Boaza" and "Dermantsi", there are four large bridge structures on the Vit River at the 89th, 90th, 91st and 98th km. All bridges are built with two independent structures for each direction of traffic, with each lane having two lanes.

The construction of sections 2 and 3 of the "Hemus" motorway continues with a total length of 36.28 km - from the end of the "Dermantsi" junction to the connection with the Pleven "Lovech road, including the "Pleven" junction.
